Default fitness problems...?

i have a friend who is 15 and is overweight. he could hardly do push ups and crunches. he is worried that this may cause heart attack and other illnesses when he grows up. he strives hard to get fit. he is on a low calorie diet and on a cardio vascular endurance workouts. are there any more ideas on getting fit? exercises that may be somehow useful in getting him fit... by the way he is 5'6 in height and 180 pounds in weight.. any ideas? one who has the most detailed answer would be the best answer...Ü
