There are many different things to consider when you are looking at different dress styles. Keep in mind the color and fabric of the dress, and make sure it is seasonal. For instance, a brown velvet dress will not be appropriate for an event in July, nor will it be comfortable. Also pay careful attention to the details of the dress. Will the neckline be too revealing? Is there a slit or opening that will show too much when you are sitting? Is the dress too tight to walk in? Also notice the embellishments of the dress, and keep an eye out for things that may cause you discomfort later. For instance, if there is beading down the side of the dress, it may rub the underside of your arm all night. If there are spaghetti straps, make sure they fit properly so they are not constantly falling down when you move your arms. And if the dress is strapless, make sure that it fits properly so that you don't have to tug on it constantly to keep it in place. These types of details are very important to keeping you comfortable throughout the evening.
