Hi, I am 33 weeks pregnant with my second girl and with my first I gained 70lbs. I went from 190 to 260. I breastfed for about a month and my milk wasnt coming in so I stopped and had went to 252...n stayed that weight for 6 months and then I got pregnant again. I now weigh 285, and I was wondering if I breast pump for my second, do you think it will help me lose the weight from the first pregnancy or am I outta luck for waiting so long to try n lose it?...HELP I want to look good again!

If you nurse that baby and you make alot of milk, the weight will just about fall off of you. but it's not going to do it over night. You have to be nursing all the time, no bottles at all because the more you nurse, the more milk you make, the more weight you lose. You also need to get on a good diet while breastfeeding. Don't believe anyone that says you have to drink alot of whole milk and eat alot of fatty foods to make your milk rich. Rich breast milk? Give me a break, the baby is going to get what it needs, no matter what. Remember this about what people tell you, if it sounds ridiculous, it probably is. My mother in law is the worlds worst about saying stupid stuff that doesn't make sense. I'm not talking about anyone's answers here. I approve of all of them so far.

Yes, breastfeeding definitely burns calories and you lose weight by burning calories - it doesn't matter if the weight came from the 2nd pregnancy or the 1st. Just make sure you continue to eat as healthy as possible and stimulate your milk supply to produce by feeding or pumping around every two hours during the day and at night maybe once or twice. Good luck!

It definately helps you lose weight as long as your appetite hasn't changed dramatically. Try to control your portions sizes and what you eat in general. Try to increase your cardio-vascular activity. Pumping helps maintain your milk supply. It was hard for me to get used to it though. I have been trying to lose weight as well. Have been trying to do a 30 minute areobic workout program 3 days a week. It's on dvd. I just have trouble staying commited, which is they key to weight loss. Just make up your mind that you will start getting some form of exercise 3 days a week. It's not easy, I know. Good luck!

Everyone's body is different. I didn't loose weight very well while I was breastfeeding. But then again I wasn't really exercising when I was BFing either. The best thing to do is to eat a healthy diet, drink lots of water & start some light exercise after you have your baby (of couse once your DR gives you the green light!) Just be paitent with yourself & realize it takes time to get back in shape. It's taken me almost a year & a half to finally get down to my pre-pregnancy weight. My body's not quite the same but I can't complain! I had 2 babies in 2 years & gained 50 pounds with each, luckily after my first I was exercising some & only had 10 pounds until I was at my pre-preggy weight but then I got Pregnant again & gained more. So it's hard... just take it easy on yourself.
