It is a natural thing, it is the right thing to do to give your child the best start in life. I breastfed for 16 months and my son is very healthy and only gets little colds and illnesses due to teething. I would never have it any other way. Whats the point giving powdered milk when you have it on tap and its so much more beneficial for their health, their teeth and strength. The only problem I had was doing it in public, I avoided that as much as I could but if I had to I would do it discreetly. I wouldn't have stopped tho for no reason cuz its done my son the world of good xx

Breastfeeding provides nutrients that mother nature intended for babies. Although, not all women enjoy it, I was one who did. (Two children, breastfed both). You create a bond with the child that no one else can. It can be TERRIBLY uncomfortable to be away from your child when you are nursing. After you've tried it, if you enjoy it, it may be worth your while to either invest in a decent breast pump, or learn to express your milk. Another disadvantage is that the baby tends to digest breast milk more quickly, which means more frequent feedings, hence, less sleep. Sometimes, with breastfed babies, dad feels neglected because he cannot feed baby.**Edit** I forgot to mention, when the child becomes old enough to have teeth, sometimes, Mama becomes their chewtoy--OUCH! (not fun)

I breast fed all of my children I see no disavantages. Only about 1% of women can not breast feed. Most women who think they can't breastfeed just hasn't been instructed properly on HOW to breastfeed, it is not always easy.My husband was first concerned about me breastfeeding my youngest child, his girls (from a previous marriage) were bottle fed and he was able to spend quality time feeding them. He was amazed at how healthy our breast fed child was, and how inexpensive it was. He found other ways to spend time with teh baby, like bath time and burping and rocking after breast feeding.Breast Milk is always perfect, no need to heat, no need to worry when you go out, that it will spoil, no middle of the night fumbles for a bottle. Breast Milk is Always Ready! The breastfeeding bod is something you can not replace. I know formula fed babies bond with their mothers too, but the best place for a baby is at her mothers breast.
