Default help! im trying to wean my 7 month old from breastfeeding, and shes not having it.?

Shes getting her top teeth and im afraid shes going to bite me she already does with her bottom teeth. She just chews on the bottle. I mix only a small amount of formula in with the breast milk. She took a bottle when she was about 2 months old, but now she wont go back to the bottle. I really need her to so i can take my allergy medicine. Help me please. thank you.

My daughters is 8 months and I am still on and off breastfeeding, but she doesn't have teeth yet. The first bottle I used was by THE FIRST YEARS by learning curve Called BREAST FLOW technology. It basically looks just like a womans nipple. I actually got one with my breast pump but they do sell them alone. check babies r us. and good luckHappy Mothers Day

the only advice i can give you is that if you get bitten, say ouch, no, and then take the breast away. keep on it, and your daughter will get the idea that if she bites, her food goes away. i wish i could help more, but i nursed till my son was 14months and weaned himself.

my daughter was tough to wean too. I weaned her at 4 months. it was so hard, but I would pump milk into a bottle for her afternoon feeding. after she took that ( about 2 weeks start to finish), I supplimented the afternoon feeding with formula and tried to add another bottle of expressed milk for her mid morning feed. after another 2 weeks of that, I gave her a bottle of formula in the morning and she took it. I used the bottles that have the disposable liners and the nipple more like a mom's nipple. I can't remember the brand, but baby's r us has a great selection and really knowledgeable staff. hope this helps!

Try to grin and bear it. I know it hurts (I've got one with teeth too!), but nursing is so much better for her. Obviously, she's not comfortable with being weaned yet so don't force her.Contrary to popular belief, most medications are okay to take while nursing, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. It may also be worth your while to check out the breastfeeding book by Dr. Newman. In it he lists the medications that aren't safe, and there aren't a lot. When se starts to bite you while feeding, take it away from her and say, "Please don't bite mommy". My 8 month old started biting when he got his first teeth at 4 months, I started doing this and now he never bites... sometimes I almost forget he has teeth.Good luck and really try to keep going... it's so worth it.

I only breast fed for 4 months with my daughter.. as you know..lol.. And my milk did dry up as will your milk with the med.. Ask Dr if you can take something that does not dry it up and pump for a while longer and get her to take the ba, ba with breast milk only in it and she will get it! You have already done a geat thing for her, and if your not ok with her having teeth and breast feeding... stop... she will be fine. You are a great mom and should not keep doing it if your ready to stop.. for any reason!!!!
