Default Breastfeeding in public

I do breastfeed my daughter no matter where I are. It does not matter if it is in park or on a bench in a corner somewhere in a shopping mall or if I am traveling on a plane. I do see different reactions. Some men are starring at my boob as if they would have never seen a boob before. Others are ashamed, turn red, and their steps get faster. The older generation has no understanding for breastfeeding in public at all. An older lady even walked and complaint to me I should stop immediately or she would call the police.

How do you handle breastfeeding when you are away from home? What are your stories and what problems or situation do you have experienced?

Honestly, I go through phases. Sometimes it bothers me very, very much and on other occasions I know deep in my heart that I am doing the right thing. First I was very scared of doing breastfeeding in public, but now I am so used to it - it's a breeze and you can't really tell what is going on unless you look really close.

The local shopping mall here in town has a mothers room. I can breastfeed my baby in privacy and it is very convenient. A great reason to go to the mall .

I've nursed my ds anywhere we needed to. I don't feel that nursing my baby is being rude or impolite. So I don't feel obligated to do anything differently just because some members of the general public have a limited understanding of breastfeeding. It's not my job to make them comfortable, if they are uncomfortable it's their choice to look away. They don't need me to meet their comfort needs for them - besides, I'm busy doing that for my baby!
