i have a 15wk old baby girl.. we had "thrush" (in her mouth and my nipples) and fought it for a month and a half.... now its finally gone, my nipples are still weird. they seem very slightly "crusty-ish" and the pigment is like practically gone where her mouth is placed while nursing.. what the heck? i dont know if i still have lingering thrush or if the thrush just weirded out my nipples... she doesnt have it at all in her mouth anymore and they dont hurt... help please????

well, question to ask yourself how much breast feeding means to you?
there are a lot other women happily bottle feed their babies with formula milk n their kids turns out very healthy n happy as well. if you are a breast milk believer, try breast pump n bottle feed the baby. |

Yes, It can still be thrush or just dried out skin. You can use some lanolish on them between feedings to help keep them moist. If it is still thrush, you can use a tiny bit of yeast cream on them also.
If they gave you Nystatin, it most likely is still yeast. Nystatin sucks because most strains of yeast have become immune to it. Ask your doc for Dyflucan. It worked wonders for me and me youngest. We fought yeast for several months. Your taking Dyflucan will treat the baby through your milk. Good luck! |

I think you and your baby do not have the thrush anymore which is great. But unfortunately nipples do change with breast feeding. Mine got some larger dimples which scared and made me do an ultrasound to check for breast cancer!! Ha ha! And also they kind of point downwards. I guess it's the constant use that makes them different.
