I am pregnant for the very first time. Me and Jake are already discussing if we want to have only 1 baby and call it quit after the baby arrives. I think this is the best choice for us because we have never planned on having children at all. The only reason now is that we both suddenly seemed to have hit an emotional point in our life a few months ago and decided to have a baby.

I just came across your posting and found it interesting. Why? My husband and I have decided to start a family but we plan on only having one child as well. We've been married for 8 years and we are both in our late thirties. We weren't sure if we wanted to have children for quite a while and this year it just hit us like a ton of bricks..this "feeling" came over us that we were ready to have a child. Nothing wrong with one "spoiled" child.

I am in my upper thirties, too. Will turn 38 this month. Simone and I are not sure either if we want to have a second child. In one way we say "yes" and then we say "no" again when drowning in stress and work. I just started a new job about 2.5 months ago and I also take care of our own small business. There are just not enough hours in any given day for a second baby.
