My wife of two months brought up the fact that today is our 2 month wedding anniversary. Was this just idle small talk, or is she giving me a not so subtle hint that she's expecting some type of gift or something? Is there some signifigance to the 2 month mark that I'm not aware of? Am I supposed to be responsible for doing something special on the 21st of every month for the rest of my life? And before you label me as unsentimental, I want it on the record that I cried at Steel Magnolias.

i hope this was idle small talk. anyone counting their anniversary by months sounds like they might not think it's going to last forever.
the only anniversaries that count are yearly. it's more impressive to say " we made it another year " than to say "we made it another month". the latter sounds like a highly dysfunctional couple. she's probably just excited about being married. still in the honeymoon phase. but if you aren't sure, you should ask her. there is no harm in wanting to know the frequency of "anniversaries" according to your wife. it just shows a deeper committment to teamwork. if she wants to do something more than once a year, maybe plan low key celebrations, like dinner or a "date night". |
