well i used to have one at the gym and its ok if you are very committed but i used to just think what i could spend the £20 on :? lol the thing that i found best [if you are a member of a gym] was thre classes because if you go into an aerobic class you have to do the full 45 mins or an hour but if i worked independantly i slacked off quicker, even with the trainer cos i just hated him nagging at me lmao

hi Chopper ( first post so GULP!)

Its funny that you mentioned this - tonight I am having my first session with a personal trainer.

Me and the OH decided it was time to get fit so we are both being trained by her at the same time. I'm the same as you I have no drive or self discipline to get to the gym - but am ok once I'm doing the excercises.

I'm now heavier than I've ever been in my life just letting the weight creep up. So I decided to bite the bullet.

My niece actually is a personal trainer and life coach but lives too far away for me, this girl comes highly recommended and I need someone to knock on my door and say 'shift yer but!'.

I think it actually works out better value than joining a gym for a year and only going three times! and shes not too expensive.

I'll let you know how I get on. (If I can move that is) lol:

hi jane thanx for the info and your first post I am the same i have become a lazy bum since i lost my job. Have no motivation to do anything, which is why a personal trainer would be good cause they will push you to the limit, only because thats what they are paid to do.

I hate the gym environment and prefer to get out and about, cyclying hiking etc , but have not had the self motivation to get out and do it for ages. I keeo saying i will but never do

Hi Lee

LOL at above comment, sounds just like me. I became a SAHM last June and I dont do any excercise now, and eat cos of boredom. I'm sort of looking forward to and dreading it at the same time. But I need the push. Hopefully with Mr Grumpy doing it with me it'll make it much easier.

Already did the shopping for the 'healthy foods' (not so healthy for the pocket, cost twice as much tho) so hopefully it wont be long before I'm all svelt and sexy PMSL

i THINK a personal trainer is a good idea. Id have one come to the house if I could.

Ive had them at the gym and that was brilliant because they push you more than you would yourself. I usually stop when it gets hard, but if your paying for that pain then you want it.

Feel great after.

And on that subject Ive lost an inch off my waist this week and ONE kilogram. (2 lbs) Im aiming for half a stone for summer

Why dont you go for a trial session at your local gym to get you in the MOOD, when your laid on the floor gasping for breath (like I was) I find its enough to get you motivated
