Im in the same boat I had my daughter a year ago now and have put weight on, Ive started a diet but Im not following one.
All Im doing is cutting out all the crap I used to eat which is really hard but Ive lost 3lb in the first week.
I belong to another forum and we have started up a weight loss section as the board is a mother and baby board so we are all in the same boat.........

I hate dieting (you could tell is you saw me too!!)

But this year im trying really really hard.... sort of!!

Im even considering joining a gym tomorrow. But its so hard to make myself go, and especially to justify the money it costs (although very easy to make excuses!).

Im not huge, but sometimes i feel so fat that it makes me cry... yet it doesnt make me stop eating rubbish and exercise more. I dont understand it really. But i do completely simpathise with you both. There is so much pressure on everybody to be thin and "acceptable". I know it would make me healthier and probably happier but it just seems to be masses of hard work to get there. and you have to be strong (excuse the pun)...

From a male point of view I feel there is too much media perspectous on how a female should look. There is been healthy, then there is been too slim. Most diets don't work either what you need to do is cut down on all the 'bad' stuff. If you get the bus to work get off a stop earlier, take the stairs not the lift. Just a little bit goes a long way.

i can tell you that the weight watchers diet does work. and i would say thats its a very healthy way of eating too. they work out a points value for each food based on its saturated fat and calorie content (obviously the 2 things that need to be reduced to lose weight). things like fruit and veg, rice cakes etc have lower points values and i found that this encouraged me to eat more them. The thing is with any diet is that you have to be very very comitted for it to work. if you are half hearted with it then you dont see results. Im terrible with food, but at the moment im a bit of a gym freek!! and im loving it, and seeing good results very quickly. also this makes me want to chose healthier options to eat. So im all for exercise and a balanced diet at the mo!!
