Can anyone help me please?

If i were to send a cheque to America to pay for an item, will i get charged any extra charges from my bank? Or just the price that i,m paying for the item?

im not sure im afraid karen but i would think just the amount for the item?

you have to pay either a negotiation fee or a collection fee depending on your bank and the currency the cheque is drawn in!

you also have to take into effect the exchange rate for the item - if it is drawn in sterling on a foriegn bank you still have to pay the charges

where I work it is £10 for negotiation and £15 for collection - I would insist on bankers draft drawn on UK bank from overseas!

Thanks for that help Joanne :smile: - i forgot you worked in a bank. I think its probably easier to pay them by paypal. Dont like the sound of all that cheque faff.
