Well, immediately after giving birth, they let you bond with the baby for a few minutes. Then they go to do testa, clean up, etc. on the baby. You will deliver the placenta, etc. Then they will stitch up anything that needs that. Let you bond some more, then take the baby to the nursery while you take a shower. More than likely you will want to sleep after all that. They also give you time to breastfeed, if you want.

I just had a baby a few weeks ago, and this is what happened for meIf you get an epidural that is) Right after I had her, they started pushing out the placenta and stitching me up while they cleared her throat and such. I breast fed so after they cleaned her up a bit they brought her over to me and I started to breast feed her. Then they had me order food. (I hadnt eaten in 34 hours...) They dont let you get up for a few hours to let the epidural wear off. Then they will help you walk to the bathroom (if your legs are okay at this point) and you take a light shower sitting down. Doctors come in every 30 minutes or so to push on your stomach and make sure that your uterus is going back to its size, and they examine your stitches to check the swelling.

Well depends really ...Either way you will be to tired to move or take a shower .. trust me!If you had a regular delivery (No c-section) you will be up and walking not long after (some women only take a few hours to recover), but you will be moved to your room if you were in a delivery room and have time with your family and new babyIf you had a c-section you will be taken to a recovery room, you will not be able to get up right away, it will take about 12 hours before you even want too, and even then its rather painful After the recovery room you will be taken to your room (maybe an hour or two later)

Well, after the birth and after the birth of the placenta, you will probably be given the baby to hold and cuddle and breastfeed for the first time. It really depends on the hospital with what will happen next.I was offered to stay in the room where we delivered or move to another one. I decided to move, but I should have just stayed in the same room. The nurse will check on you ALL THE TIME and help you alot. She will walk you to the bathroom and help you get cream and stuff on. You will have hemorrhoids, so she will show you how to use the pads and show you how to clean your area. You will have "depends" type of pads. They are huge. You will be very sore down there. Everything will ache from your stomach all the way around to your bung hole. If you need to pee, you'll need to tell the nurse as she needs to make sure you aren't bleeding excessively and she will walk you to the bathroom to make sure you don't pass out. When we had our daughter, she was with us the whole time. They never took her away. So when the nurse wasn't with us, I just laid in bed and held the baby. You will have a shower in the room to use after the nurse gives the ok. This probably won't be for many hours. But you'll have no desire to take a shower anyway. You'll just want to be with your husband and baby and a shower will be the last thing on your mind.Hope this helps. It's been over a year, so I'm a bit fuzzy. But I get to do it again next month, so I'm glad you're jogging my memory!

Only know what they do after vaginal birth-If you have an episitomy, they will sew you up and let you hold the baby. You may start shivering uncontrollably, they will cover you with warm blankets. They say is completely normal and most women do. Then they will clean you up a bit and wrap a diaper like thing around you because you bleed very heavily right afterwards. It slows down quickly so don't freak. They don't offer you a shower unless you didn't tear or get an epidural. They will clean up the room and then wheel you to the ward. A nurse will come and clean you up better, sorta with a wash rag and help you change from what you had on for labor. Mine did it in the ward. It might seem gross and like a lot of time but you are in such awe of what has just happened that it doesn't even faze you. And then they bring you your baby and you don't even think about it again.

It takes a while for them to clean you up and check out your placenta etc. And if you have an epidural (which I highly recommend, had my first natural, not by choice, made sure I got the epidural with the second) it takes a little longer. The nurses help clean you up when the doctor is done stitching etc. and I was not able to take a shower until the next morning. My kids were born at 5:32 pm and 11:39 pm so if the baby is born in the am you may get to take one the same day. I think it was around a 1/2 to 1 hour before I went to the room. With my youngest the cord spearated from the placenta so I was in there longer than ususal while the got the rest of the placenta out of me. And a little longer before I got the baby, both my kids were jaundice so they keep them under the billy lights, if they are not jaundice you may get them sooner. Congratulations!!!

it depends on what hospital your at. as soon as the baby is born and you've had some skin to skin and they have done any stitching etc necessary they will dress the baby and once you are both taken care of most hospitals will leave you and your baby (and partner/ husband) alone for a while in the delivery room to get to know your baby and take it all in etc how long they leave you depends on the hospital, how busy it is etc. then you will be wheeled onto the ward, i wasn't offered a shower or anything but once you are on the ward you can have one if you feel up to it. it really all depends on the circumstances surrounding the birth.

you need a visit of your hospital honey...and ask your care provider for all this info tooin MY local hospital we labor, birth and recover in the same room most of the time...the bathroom is very nice and large with a shower and a jacuzziafter the birth....after the placenta has been delivered...after you have nursed for the first time and the room is cleaned up and eveyone has left.....this usually takes about an hour after delivery.....your delivery nurse will get you out of bed and help you to the bathroomshe will sit you on the toilet and have you pee/poop and then wash your vaginal area with a squirt bottle and prepare stretchy panties with a pad and possbily Tucks pads for your bum area as well and help you get in the pantiesthen she will ask you if there is anything you want, need, whatever and lead you back to bed for some much needed rest!you can then sleep with baby in your bed, in a bassinet by your bed or have the nurse staff care for your baby those first few hours after the birth so you can sleepthen after a while they will wake you for baby's first baththey will show how to bath baby properly and get him/her all snuggled up again and then while you are up for the first time this a good time to take that showerthe nurse staff will ask about your blood flow and might ask to see your pad and ask if you have hemmoroids and if you need extra pads to soothe your bumthis of course could vary a little hospital to hospital....my daughter slept on my chest after she was born and i cared for her the week we were in the hospital.....these are not silly questions cuz i had NO idea it would go like it did

I can give you my experience. After the delivery the doctor will immediately do your episiotomy if necessary. I fed and held the baby for a while and then I was taken to the bathroom in the delivery room and had to put on a huge maxi pad and hospital underwear! They will give you antiseptic spray and pain medication if you need it. After an hour or two, I was taken to a recovery room. I think that evening I took a bath. Believe me, you won't want to take a shower. It's great to soak in a hot bath. Really helps the pain. After this the nurse will come in periodically to check your stitches and swelling and offer pain medication if you want it. Your baby can stay in the room with you or the nurses will bring them to you for feedings.
