Default How soon after giving birth can you try for another baby?

I am not crazy, but have been advised by my consultant that if I want another child I should try again 'straight away' as I have had fertility problems. I just wanted some opinions on how soon was 'straight away'.

some parents doing that straight away. but i think you have to give your body a bit of time and enjoy your little one. besides, it is not a factory, it is human beings life!

i think its pretty much straight away but you probably want to wait at least a month, give you time to recover a little! it might depend on the birth and the individual too (if you have stitches your gonna be sore)

I think it takes 6 weeks for things to go back into place. A friend of mine has 2 children 10 months apart - so she got pregnant pretty quick - and she was fine.Rather you than me though! I waited four years!

you should have sex until about 6-8 weeks after having your child...the first 3 months after baby are the most fertile...but give your body a rest.

it's a good idea to wait at least until your body has fully recovered from the first pregnancy and birth. doctors recommend 18 months from the birth of your older child before tring to conceive again
