Default Having Natural Drug-Free Birth! Need Encouragement from Veterans!?

I am due in about a week, first pregnancy and have been preparing for a drug-free birth! Now that I am at the end, I'm becoming a little nervous! I know I can do it but encouragement and positive birthing stories always seem to help! I have been working with a doula in my home! This has helped my husband and I tremendously, but I'm still nervous! Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!I am using a midwife in a birthing center, so pretty much anything goes!!!

It will be over with before you know it. Make sure you use the old man as a punching bag.

I had a home birth with my second child. The first was supposed to be but ended up being a c-section in the hospital. When it came time to have my daughter I was nervous that I would end up in the hospital again, but everything went beautifully. She was 9 1/2 pound and perfect. I couldn't believe that something so big came out of me, I am a small woman, 5-3 on a good day. I was high on her birth for years, wishing that I could do it again even though I don't want any more kids. It was the most amazing thing I have ever done. In the beginning, before I went into labor my partner and I walked around our neighborhood, he pushed me on the swings and we kissed alot. It was very romantic and lovely. Good luck, if I can do it I am sure that you can too. If it gets overwhelming keep your eye on the prize. Once you hold your baby in your arms the pain and work of birthing fades leaving only the bliss of being a powerful woman and mother.

You can do it!!! Being nervous is very natural. I had my second son naturally with a drug-free birth, but I'm still a little nervous because with this one I plan on doing the same!! Just breathe!!! Midwives are great I had one with my second and am doing the same with this one, they make it so much easier!! Good Luck & Congrats!!!!

I've done it 3 times.. and as much as it is painful.. you CAN get thru it without drugs. My husband was my savior tho.. When the contractions started i would tune everyone else in the room out and just listen to his voice. He was an AWSOME coach i have to say that.

I fully intended to have a drug-free delivery but it was not to be, my daughter turned herself around and was lying in the back-to-back position, i finally consented to an epidural.I think a drug-free labor is a great idea but you should try and keep yourself open-minded about the situation, that way if you do need to have drugs you wont feel so bad about it.I would recommend a Tens machine.Good Luck

,,,the breathing can work, but only if you let it.During the first labor, I found that I felt much less pain and way more peace and control if I could start the breathing as soon as I felt the contraction coming on...if I waited too long and got too far into the contraction, the pain became totally overwhelming. I think of it as being able to get out and ontop of the wave before it crests...and then being more able to ride it out, as opposed to losing it and screaming like a lunatic through the contraction.Congrats, and good luck (it's over fairly quickly)!
