My husband is in the U.S. Army and chances are for our next child to be born on a military base in Germany. Anyone here who knows how that is? Can I go to a normal hospital or will it be the military hospital? We will most likely be in Ramstein.

I think it depends on where you are. I don't know specifically about Germany though. Here (Italy), my base clinic doesn't do births, so I had to choose an off-base provider

A friend of mine was in Germany with her military husband when she was pregnant. She gave birth in a "public" hospital in Germany.

I think it completely depends where you are. In some countries it might not be an issue using an external hospital. In other countries I could not imagine using something other than a military hospital. Can you imagine giving birth in a 3rd world country?
