They hurt. Once they get strong enough, you will know for sure it is a contraction. When they first begin, you may assume it is a cramp, or back ache...but when it comes time for you to 'need to know' you will. It never hurts to visit the doctor if you are worried or unsure though. That's what doc's are their for, and that's what you pay them for.

It depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy...It feels like pressure. The braxton hicks contractions start something like when your six weeks along,,,these are normal. You will have them the duration of your pregnancy at some point or another. The real deal when you have the real contractions will make your stomach hard when your having the contractions and they will be consecuitve...then you should time these. As you further inot your labor the more intense they become,,,,

Every woman, and every pregnancy is different. Normally, contractions are felt in the lower part of your tummy, a tightening............you can put your hand on your belly and feel it get as hard as a rock. And sometimes contractions are felt in your back...the lower part of your back, like a bad backache. If these pains are persistant, or if you seem to feel them coming on every 10 minutes or so, or less, then call your doctor.

It can be different for every woman. If you are not full term and think your having contractions then go to the hospital.I ve been pregnant 4 times. I was having contractions when I was 28 weeks pregnant with my son and didnt even know. I just kept fealing a light pressure and my stomach got really tight like the baby was pushing all of his weight in one area. Another time My back hurt really bad but it was contractions. But no matter how far you are when the contractions really start to come and your close to giving birth youll know.

Well the non-painful contractions feel kinda of like your stomach is slowly tightning and that can last for about a minute then it will slowly release. When I was having contractions I had no idea that they were actually contractions....My contractions weren't actually painful until they got to about 3 minutes apart.

believe me you'll know ..... they are Like your braxton hicks but were as the braxtons are a tightening with no pain your contractions will be felt not only in your tummy but without sounding rude in your bits also and along your pelvic bone .... braxtons don't tend to carry on too long, so time them if they are regular and getting stronger the chances are its the real thing ..... if you are unsure or in pain go to your hospital , they are used to having people coming in unsure so you wont look a fool .... good luck with the baby x
