What do you call contractions? I have heard quite a few different names for it.

I called 'em "suckers" because they really sucked.

Otherwise I really called them contractions. Nothing special.

I referred to them as surge or contractions.

Contractions - nothing else I could never get into the wave-squeeze-hug imagery. Hugs and waves don't make me scream "$HIT!! and F#$k".
