I had my first contraction at my inlaw's place. We were visiting and I was getting tired after we had a long day of shopping in the mall. I looked at the time and it was 10:10pm. The contraction did hurt but I thought nothing of it since I had been having braxton-hicks throughout the week. I got up to walk around a little bit and had another one a few minutes after the first contraction. But again, I thought it must be a braxton-hicks. I called my husband that I was tired and I wanted to go home. Contraction #3 arrived. We got into the car and contraction #4 came. It hurt and I had to wait for it to pass before being able to close the car door. I started checking the time between the contractions. It was about 5 minutes since the last one.
On the way home I had 2 more contractions (contractions #5 and #6) and again they were 5 minutes apart. I was not sure if this was it or what. We decided to go home and not to the hospital. At home I walked in, took off my coat and had another contraction (#7). This one hurt but I was able to work through it by leaning over on the love chair and rocking. When it was finally over I checked the time and again it was 5 minutes. I had to go to the bathroom to pee. I went in, locked the door, sat down and then finished up, when another strong contraction (#9) hit me. I decided it would be better to call the doctor and to take off to the hospital. I was still sitting and felt something between my legs. I thought "what the heck is that?". I reached down to my vagina and felt about an inch and a half to 2 inches of the amniotic sac and I felt baby's head! Oh my gosh. I realized that it was too late to go to the hospital. In that moment the water broke in a big burst and the feeling to push increased dramatically. I yelled: "THE BABY IS COMING! THE BABY IS COMING!" My husband came to the door and was trying to to enter the bathroom, but the damn door was locked. I could not get up to reach the door. With a loud "Bang" my husband had kicked the door open. I had another contraction and pushed and the baby's head was descending FAST! Very fast!!!!!! I yelled "It's coming! The baby is coming!". Another push and the baby came out. Thank god - my hubby was able to catch her. I fell onto the floor, but was able to control the fell. Somehow it all worked out Ok. We called the doctor and he ordered an ambulance to pick us up. ![]() |

I keep hoping that my next baby will come fast, so I don't have to even set foot in the hospital at all!! I bet your hubby had one heck of an adrenaline rush going on as he kicked down that door, lol. Congrats a few months late though!

And my birth story is so boring compared to yours. I got contractions. Waited until they reached 5 minutes being apart. Then we left for the hospital. 8 hours late the baby was there. How exciting, huh?!
Congratulations belated.Allison |
