Default Twist It!!!

The perfect hair-do to team with your new ladylike wardrobe this season is the ‘French Twist’. This sophisticated stylish look, has been seen on numerous runways this season including Celine and Alberta Ferretti. Don’t worry, although this look may seem like a nightmare to achieve, I am here with some top tips to turn a tornado of hair and pins into a sleek streamlined ‘French Twist’ perfect for the office or glammed up for a night out.

· First of all, if your anything like me and hate not washing your hair everyday, unfortunately you should try to grin and bear it. For this look, unwashed, slightly dirty hair allows the style to stay in place for much longer. However if you must shampoo, apply mousse after towel drying.

· You can do a French Twist on any hair texture, but it’ll look sleeker if your hair is smooth, so blow dry hair straight using a round brush.

· Brush hair back towards your right shoulder, holding it tightly against the back of the head. Insert the hairpins diagonally, from the centre of the nape of the neck, towards the right ear. The line of pins is where the twist of hair will be.

· Twist the hair toward the left shoulder and up, until it’s tight against the back of the head and the ends are sticking out from the top. Position the roll of hair to cover the line of pins.

· Starting at the nape and moving upwards insert five or six hairpins horizontally into the twist.

· Tuck the loose ends into the twist and secure with more hairpins.

· Finish off with a spritz of hairspray.

· If you want to give the look a more funky edge, loosen strands around the hairline. This makes it not frizzy or untamable, but more of an up do with perfectly wind-blown pieces that waft in the breeze.
