Default Hand Cream

I suffer from dermatitis and must have tried every hand cream on the market. Ive even tried steriod based creams prescribed by my doctor as my hands tend to crack and bleed . I have a sample tube of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour intensive hand cream but its not doing anything for me. Im currently using a cocoa butter hand cream from the body shop but Im looking for something more moisturising. I bought a shea butter cream from L'Occitane so hopefully that will work. All the ones that they sell in Boots and Superdrugs didnt work. As I work in a care home, I have to wash my hands hundreds of times a day so it makes the condition even worse!

My father had this condition with his hands but he got a really good cream from the doctors and i used to use it sometimes and it made the hands really soft. Have you been to the doctors to ask for any creams???

Hi Karen,

Yes, I have been to the doctors many times but nothing she prescribed has worked. There was a cream called epiderm that she used to prescribe that was actually working for me but they recently changed the ingredients and its useless now! When the winter comes my knuckles crack and bleed. I wear gloves but it doesnt prevent the cracking. My dad suffers with the same condition but his hands are worse. My parents are both nurses so they are forever washing their hands.

Hi 6cats,

Yes Ive tried Sudocream. The problem is that these creams are too heavy and dont absorb into my skin. The cocoa butter one from the body shop is the only thing that absorbs into my skin but I have to apply it loads of times a day as its not moisturising enough. Still, its better than nothing.

I might just try that. Sudocream is too heavy for day time use, you are right about that. My feet are dry and cracking too but I neglect them so its my own fault!

thanks 6cats! Will try that. I put some shea butter on my feet last night and the top parts of my feet are very smooth but the bottom bits need more attention I think!
