So, Tampax are now selling scented tampons in Britain.

Leaving aside the obvious questions of "who sniffs tampons?" and "why would I want tampons to smell of Magic Tree?" - we all know, because we've been told over and over again, that using scented products in and around the genitals disrupts the body's natural balance and can increase the risk of irritation and thrush. And, from a more political viewpoint, aren't there enough women who think their vaginas and periods are dirty and smelly and something to be ashamed of? Don't scented tampons just perpetuate the myth that women are dirty? Shouldn't a product which is used only by women be encouraging women to feel good about themselves?

I'm so annoyed by it I've emailed Tampax - *********- use the "contact us" bit at the bottom of the page, and if you feel the same, please contact them as well.

they can`t be good for you at all, which idiot came up with that idea

I dont think its a good idea really but surely they must have done their tests??
I also think that if you use tampons there is no smell anyway, i dont know if i have an over-sensitive nose but i can actually smell women when they use towels, so maybe the manufacturers should make scented towels instead :lol:

Nita they have always ultra freselle (sp) for women each pad comes with a wipe do you think they will be any good for you though?

Yeah i can smell pads too tho i do use them i use the freshelle and also femfresh wash wich always gives me thrush but anyways better itch than smell :lol:

I have very sensitive skin and have to buy expensive natural tampons from Boots as everything else makes me sore - think I'm allergic to the bleachs and stuff they use to make them so thre's no chance of me using scented ones

I get thrush quite often at that time of month too! I'm paranoid about smelling when I'm on my period - I change my knickers about 10 times a day!

Didnt mean i could smell me claire i meant other women I use tampons.

I cant use tampons since I had ella which is really annoying, so I have to wear pads and I hate it. I always think that there is a dodgy smell wearing pads but there isn't :grin:
