Default Car seats

Does anyone know of childrens car seats that can be removed or fitted easily instead of one's that have to be fitted and left in the car.
My dad would like to take my daughter out sometimes but doesnt want a car seat in the car all the time??
Ps my daughter will soon be 18 months

when billy got to that age we bought one from halfords that was a booster but with a back and sides to it [does that make sense :?] you just sat it in the car and used the main seat belt to hold it in place, it had anchor points for the seat belt so you could get it at the same height as the childs shoulder. Il try to find a pic of a similar one.

Thanks pl, Would it be safe for an 18 month child and be ok regarding the law and child seats.
I just wonder if she would be too young for a seat like this?? they really confuse me!!

It goes on the weight of the child, not the age.

The law states that a child must be properly restrained, ie in a car seat. so if your child can wriggle out then you could be in trouble.

I cant remember what age mine went into one of them. I think it was age 2.

is there not a shop that has trained staff regarding car seats ?
maybe halfords or mothercare ?

billy wasnt very old because we needed it for granny and grandads car. if you go into halfords or any good shop they will try her out in it and tell you which would be safe but some of them are fir quite young children now, im sure our first one was from when they came out of the carrytot
