Bullying at work - I need a bit of advice. Is there any hints and tips I could use for my letter thats going in to the boss soon.

gosh i dont know really, i havent any experience myself but i would think your letter needs to be very to the point and dont make your comments personal. Just a clear vew of what you feel is the problem and how you feel it should be dealt with and any legal bits you can throw in about your rights i would think would help.

Your employer has a duty of care - if you report bullying or harassment, they have a legal obligation to take appropriate action. A recent case against an employer held that failure to support an employee who reported bullying was breach of contract. Like Rae says, keep the letter factual and give as many examples as you can - dates, times, who was there and so on. There are some good websites with help and advice on the issue - try ACAS or some of the unions' sites. Good luck xx

its actually quite similar to what youve said in your post on general Adele

basically the depot is split into 2 groups, us normal ones, and then the arse licking boss lovers, of which theres 6. The boss has a best mate at work and he gets all over the overtime ect, along with the rest of his cronies ..... anyways, that a different matter that does and doesnt bother me. we have a meeting with the union about him and the fact that hes letting the depot go down the hill, if its not about him andlooking after his own little team then hes not bothered

my issue is with a man whos the health and safety rep. I have to use the male toilets, which, most women wouldnt dream of doing, but i have no other choice unless I want to cause a big scene and be all "womens rights" which has never been my thing, anyways, theres 50 men using these toilets every day, with no cleaner, theyre absolutley stinking, so, for the last year myself and some of the other lads have been telling this H&S rep to sort them out, hire a cleaner, anything, but it falls of deaf ears and hes totally not interested in any matters of H&S whasoever, he said that they didnt smell and that nothing was wrong with them. anyways, 2 months ago i went in the toilets and there was shit smeared all down the wall, as if someone had run out of bog paper :roll: anyways, i went back into the mess room and casually mentioned it to my team mates, and the H&S rep, whos also a worker, went to see it, then later wrote a note saying for it to stop and for the toilets to be treated with respect, anyways, sometime last week, while i was off and before i started my night shifts someone had defaced the poster. I got in to work the yesterday and my team mate and the H&S rep were arguing as the H&S rep said that he was 99.9% sure that I had done it. then he accused me to my face, and wouldnt let me defend myself, he was working with our team that day, and he ignored me the whole shift, which not only is pathetic, but extremly dangerous, and then back at the mess room before hometime, he came back from the loo's boasting how nice and fresh they were and how they didnt smell any more as hes put sanitiser down them, i made an off the cuff remark and said "funny that , as you said they didnt smell for the last year" and he went ballistic, hurling abuse at me and calling me all the names under the sun, today he totally ignored me.

I told him i was going to report him and he said he didnt give a F**k, hes very rude, abnoxious (sp) arrogant, lewd, has this its my way or no way thing going on and is a glory seeker, he wont do anything unless hes going to get some kind of recognition ect.

Ive started writing a letter to the boss, but the other thing is that because im not an arse licker and with the meeting about the boss with the union man, i arent sure that the boss will actually do anything
