I just don't get it - why all the fuss? Its very sad, but his own doing. i feel sorry for his family, & also for the family who had to lose someone in order for him to get a new liver 3 yrs ago.

Well if ur addicted to a substanse then it doesnt matter wat chance ur given u just cant help it. Ive watched my mum go off and on the wagon so many tyms and even tho she nos shes killing herself she keeps going. My sisters mum in law died too from similar stuff she was told if u drink again ur dead in a year and she was. Noone wants to die but like i said if ur hooked sometyms u just cant stop.

i agree with lizzie as i know full well from experience you cant stop someone!! but the things that annoys me most is the NHS resources that have been wasted and the poor family that donated the liver! It seems a terrible waste that it could have gone to someone that maybe would have been able to live a normal life again and make the most of it!

People have very selective memories when it comes to things like this. It's sad for his family but at the end of the day, he was an alcoholic who kicked a ball around - it's not like he found a cure for AIDS or dedicated his life to helping other people. And I'm from N. Ireland, so I should be grieving !!

he din't desrve the second chance he told everyone before the liver transplant he wouldn't stop drinking but nhs resources were wasted when someone else would have benefited with the liver, yes drink is an addiction but addictions can be stopped if you are strong enough. Granted he was a good player but most people will remember him for been a wife beater and an alcholic
