i couldnt just walk on by sorry if it was an animal someone was mis treating then people would be more inclined to say something i read that a survey had been done and that come out of the results.Sometimes you have to put yourself on the line for someone else well at least that what i think. Nita i would have given him what for if i had walked past

I had a similar experience with neighbours last summer (ashamed to say I gave a blow-by-blow account of it on here...) The husband and wife were having a huge row and the next thing the police arrived and took him away. I saw another neighbour go over to the house, so I didn't get involved. A few days later, I met the neighbour who'd gone over and she told me that the wife had told her, in no uncertain terms, to go away and mind her own business. It's terrible that people are often too scared to get involved but you can't really blame them, I suppose. That said, if I saw someone being physically attacked, I would at least call the police.

yes theres always that, that you could get told in no uncertain terms to mind your own business but i think id rather have that than not trying at all.
i suppose you see it differently when you've been on the other end.

i wouldnt mind being told to mind my own business in a sitution like that at least i would know in no uncertain terms that i had offered my help and they didnt want it i would rather that then walk on as if its not happening i always try and look at things if i was in that situation would i want help and the answer would have to be yes so the least i can do is offer it. Maybe nowadays im not in the majority on this wy of thinking but thats the sort of person i am

i'm a bit of a hothead + hate to see anyone getting bullied so I would have gone out + threatened him with the police. I would have asked the woman if there was anything she needed me to do, + if she said no, would then leave them to get on with it.
6cats, do you mind me asking, when your ex smashed your face, did you go back to him?
The reason I ask is my friend was in similar position, + I used to get involved all the time, till I got fed up when she went back to him time after time, which is another reason people don't like to get involved. Thank God she's finally split from him now.

a long while ago while i was doing my GCSE's, my mum and I were out walking the dogs, and we saw this woman getting beat up by her fella, they had a tiny baby girl who was in the pram in the middle of the pavement about 20 feet away from them fighting, anyway, this woman ran off from him, leaving the baby when she saw us as he's stopped beating her and he ran off in the opposite direction, my mum brought this woman and her baby into our house, fixed her up, looked after the baby ect and the police came (took them 5 or 6 hours to arrive) anyway, all the statements were given ect and this woman swore she was pressing charges. That same week we saw the couple together and she walked straight past us as if nothing had ever happened.
