We did help out someone a couple of months ago. My hubby was driving home and a few mins from home, a woman was crying 'help me, help me' and she had a small baby in her arms and a man was knocking seven bells out of someone on the floor.
I told my husband to go with me and see if she was alright (this was after he had seen the partner leave) and we stayed with them til the police and ambulance arrived.
It turned out it was her ex-partner laying into her father who had come round to protect her. What we found out was that he had a history of violence and the attack took place in front of his 3 children, the other two were hiding behind her legs.
The father had a fractured skull and fractured eye socket. My husband went to court to give evidence and the partner was jailed for 2 years.
I was worried but he doesn't know where we live and all I could think of my standing there with my baby in my arms and people walking past and driving on when I was crying out for help.
Maybe the wrong decision but there you go! I have turned away from arguments before because you never know the background, but with children around, I would never have forgiven myself if something more serious had happened and I hadn't asked my husband to go back with me and check they were ok.
