We went through something similar with Charlie when I was 15 weeks pg. They said I had a high risk of Downs 1 in 170 if I remember right + normal was anything over 1 in 250. I chose to have an amnio to find out for sure + during this whilst scanning the Consultant said there was things wrong with him, very little water, irregular heartbeat, + that she thought we were gonna lose him. Luckily everything was fine thank God, but if things had turned out different I would choose abortion (hate that word much prefer termination)
I remember someone, like joanne65, who had a Downs brother saying he + his wife would never have a Downs baby as he has seen first hand the pressure placed on a family, he said him + his sister were really left to get on with things as his parents were so tied up in looking after his brother.
I think you have to be a very special person to look after someone with such demanding needs, + I know I am not that person
Anyone still awake?!
