Default Disability & Abortion?

Just been on another forum and theyre having an interesting debate.

Basically, if you were pregnant, and you were having a child that could be, or is, disabled - Ie. Downs, alobar holoprosencephaly, trisomy ect, would you abort or keep?

*I would just like to state that this is not up for argument, its a debate, where everyones opinion and, and will be different. People are not to be judged whatsoever for their answers.*

i personally wouldnt abort as we had such problems maintaining a pregnancy each time that i refused all tests except my scans and that was just so i could see my baby, but then again if they had said to me at the 20week scan that baby had no brain or something horrific that meant it wouldnt be born alive for more than a few minutes i think i would have to rethink

U read of peopl being advised to abort cos of disability but then be ok so i dont no, to be honest. Id always think wat if it would be ok. Also theres the everythng happens for a reason so if ur given a baby be it disabled or not then that wasmeant for u. But its on of those things that u cant no till ur in the situation wat u would do

you`ll think i`m a bitch but i`d abort. life is hard enough anyway and when i see old people with their disabled "children" it makes me sad. i mean what`s going to happen to them when the parents die.
homes can be cruel places

I dont know what id do.

I think i would abort because the child would take a lot of looking after and that it might not have a good life because it wouldnt beable to do everything it wanted to.

It depends on the disability, if it was life threatening then yes, but something like Downs then I would go ahead and have the baby.

I would abort, as i'd want my child to have a normal life and not rely on others. Saying that my parents were warned i may have a disability as mum had a fall whilst expecting me and lost lots of blood, but they didn't seem to care and wanted me anyway. I think they were brave and sweet to have wanted a child knowing it may not lead a normal life. Luckily i was fine but just a bit premature.

My hubby has a disabled cousin, he's 25 but has the mental age of a 8 year old, I do feel for him and his mother as all her time is spent looking after him and her other son rarely gets a look in.

xx

I would abort!

but saying that I was brought up with a Downs Syndrome sister who's almost 36 and my widower Dad is struggling to cope!

I definitely couldn't deal with what my parents had to go through and my ex-husband would have left me - but saying that I've never been in the position to make a decision. maybe I'd change my mind if it were my baby

I'd never ever condemn anyone's decision to abort though
