Never done it, though when I was very depressed what with getting bullied at school, I sat down with a bottle of pills and really considered taking the whole bottle. I starting taking them but then stopped.

No its one thing that Ive never really thought about to be honest.

I cant 100% understand it, but then again i know that it is an illness, just like bullimia. I know that its the control of things, being able to control when you do it, how you do it and that because you cant control everything, its the one thing you can, but at the same time, the pain, the scarring ........

Suzie, if you dont mind me asking - why did you do it? :-| oh, and plase dont feel ashamed, as its nothing to be ashamed of hun

I studied self harm in my degree and it was a very interesting and difficult topic to study. I also worked in a residential unit where the children self harmed.

The debate we discussed was should self harmers in care be allowed to use sterile objects to be able to self harm with to prevent infection?

Self harm is a coping mechanism. If harmers are going to harm then shouldnt they be given clean equipment?

Self harm is not always about cutting, hitting or scratching yourself it can also be taking drugs, enetering abusive relationships repeatedly, excessive gambling........

I was referring to self harm as in what everyone knows of straight away, when someone thinks of self harm, they instantly think of harming themselevs with an object.
