i dont think a smack hurts as long as has been said before its for the right reasons! sometimes kids just dont listen and a shock tactic is needed

yes I have smacked mine - just little slaps on their hands - only when they were tiny

Laura is now old enough at 2 to know what's naughty and what behaviour I will not have - Alastair is old enough to reason with

my ex does and has slapped Alastair recently

well im afraid i still say no, and if my ex hit my tom id knock him out, good slap never harmed an adult

i dont understand, fg, why you say smacking is a good thing, and people that say its bad are making a rod for their own backs???
why? so are you saying that if when your kids are naughty if they never get smacked then they will, what, never understand what theyve done is bad?
i so completely disagree there!

I think some people see smacking as violence,if they have come from a violent background or have been on the end of it,then i can understand there reasons for being against smacking.

:-| whats that meant to mean? i was never brought up in a violent home, no smacking went on and to be honest i dont think any of my close family or friends smack their children either, later on in life i had a smack in the face off an ex partner but id already had my kids by then :???:

i dont class smacking as violence i just dont see the need personally ;-)

I got smacked on the bum if I did something REALLY bad. It certainly taught me a lesson !

here here Nita totally agree dont do it never will. JUst sending my kids to there room banning them from the playstation and stopping them having treats deters them from being naughty.This way as well they have learnt to realise they have to live with the consequences of there actions not just for a couple of seconds like a smack would but for how ever long i decide is needed for them to understand

i cannot remember my parents smacking me but they may well have done if i was really wicked.

i did get the belt in school as a little girl as i was a bit too advanced for my class and i would get fed up and bored and then id do somethign stupid like paint osmething the wrong colour then end up getting the belt for it, thank goodness the belt was withdrawn when i was in primary three or something.
