Default When you were young.....

Were you smacked as a child??

I was!! Not alot but enough to make me stop and think I wasn't going to do something naughty again.

Im sure it did me good having a clip round the ear.

no
and i never smack my kids either

i really dont think there is any need at all, i think there is always a bad enough punishment you can give without resorting to raising your hands to your kids.

I think smacking kids is a good thing.
Kids need to understand where the line is,and smacking shows them.
smacking to often is inefective the same as letting things build up them smacking them for something trivial.

People that say smacking is bad are making a rod for there own backs.

As long as its done for the right reasons and to make the child feel bad and not the parent feel better.

I think i wil start a new debate: Whats gone wrong with kids in society today ?

I was smacked as a child, and I do on the odd occasion smack Annabelle, I feel guilty after but on some ocassions it has been my only option. Like for instance when she had an unhealthy obsession with the cooker door, I tried everything to deter her, and in the end a loud no and a smack on her nappied behind did the trick. Another time I was chaning Eryn and Annabelle came up to her and hit her in the face, I had a baby doing a poo on my lap so I had no other choice but to punish her with a light slap. I must admit that I prefer the 'time out' method, but sometimes it is not just possible, and there is no way I will let bad behaviour go unpunished, I don't think my smacking of Annabelle has done any long term damage and it has not turned her into a violent child, quite the opposite.

Never smacked

I dont think you should smack your kids I cant see the point. A good stern telling off it bound to make any child think about why theyve just been told off, rather than a smack.
