In my experience, the kids that are yobs, are the ones who's mothers + fathers have never worked a day in their lives (well not an honest days work anyway). I think working sets a good example to children, + if you manage to strike a balance I can't see what the problem is?
I know mums who don't work (cause everythings paid for by ME the taxpayer) + sit on their arses with the kids stuck in front of tv or playstation. I very much doubt its because they want to be sahm + be there for their children, more because why should they when they can get everything paid for - what lesson does that set for their kids?
I also know mums who work full time, come home sit with kids reading, homework - swimming, sports clubs etc, then when kids have gone to bed, domestic chores are done - now thats a dedicated mother to me, I can't imagine how hard their life is.
Its all about QUALITY not QUANTITY!!
Being a mother is hard enough, whether you choose to stay at home or go to work

my children come first 100% of the time I have them and I only don't have them Sunday to Wednesday because I don't have a choice! I have spent time finding the right childcare for them and I know that they are settled and happy whilst I am working to pay the mortgage. and provide the luxuries like shoes and food as well as extras like jujitsu and swimming lessons and Laura will get the same chances as her brother even if I am only a part-time mother.

are you all saying that I shouldn't have had my beautiful children?

I work extra time when I don't have them so that I can take time out for hospital appointments eye tests etc -

I have never not been there for mu children & don't intend to start not being there now!

some people have to work

i think you are more of a mother fr going out to work as you are making your own money to support your family

I only work 2 days Joanne, which is a good balance for me, but I do admire single mums, SAHM mums (for the right reasons!! ) + working full time mums.
I didn't CHOOSE to work - who would? But bills have to be paid + we couldn't afford for me not to work
I think if you're parenting skills are good, regardless of whether you work or not, hopefully your kids will turn out ok
+ don't get me started on Maggie bleeding Thatcher!!
