Default I Smack & I'm Proud

about to watch this on ITV1

I admit I have smacked mine - not so much Alastair now as he's old enough to reason with and I've stopped patting Laura's hand now she understands the concept of the 'naughty step'.

Alastair's dad has smacked and I didn't agree but it had already been done when i complained so it couldn't be taken it back

will probably have more tosay after the show

Ive only had call to slap a few tyms with mine shouting usually works  i was half killed at home and it did keep me afraid of my parents enuf not to do wrong, but cant say it did me good or that anyone should be proud of it. Dont really like to slap however if i had to a small one woldnt do any harm :???: i think.

Well - I watched it !

what an awful woman - who could be proud of hitting their kids with a kitchen utensil!!!!!!!!

the couple with the young boys admitted they were too hard and have tried to stop!

I only did it when they needed a short sharp shock and have always had pains in my hands since I was pregnant with Al so I've never been able to slap hard even if I wanted to

i never watched the programme, however i dont smack my kids and never will, this turned into a bit of an arguement when it was debated before as i said there was no need to smack and FG reckoned it must have come from something in my childhood  btw i was never smacked

i've not seen the programme, heard of it though. i've never smacked anna, thankfully things have never got that far, there've been times when she's really, really tried my patience and i've felt angry but for me, putting her on the naughty step is working ok for now, she HATES it and gets really upset.

I've smacked & I'm not proud! I think there are other ways to discipline a child, & I don't believe smacking works. For me it was a way to relieve MY tension, & thats wrong. I was smacked as a child, I would say it was worse than that, most of the time I got a belt round the head, one time the belt, another time I remember being kicked round the kitchen floor, sounds awful now & I would never treat my children in that way. I have to add that I was a wayward child! i do agree that if a child does something dangerous, like run out on the road, I would slap the leg, rather that than next time a car hits him. I think you have to do it for the right reasons, not because your patience has run out. I now send Liam to his room if he's naughty, we both get a break & chance to calm down
