PRICE TO PAY
It looks like Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's divorce could get nasty with the disclosure the couple didn't get a pre-nup before their 2002 wedding. Jess, who dragged in a cool $35 million last year alone, looks set to suffer most with Californian divorce laws decreeing that all assets should be split equally when there's no documentation to prove otherwise. Jessica, who according to Us Weekly told Lachey she was making their split public via her publicist, has hired divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to handle her case, who famously represented Angelina Jolie when she split from Billy Bob Thornton.

JUNK IT IN
Pete Doherty has checked himself out of rehab without completing his full programme. The Babyshambles singer had booked himself into the same clinic used by Kate Moss earlier in the year, reportedly in an effort to win her back, but only lasted a week, and was seen watching The Bravery at Brixton Academy on Monday night. "Kate is bound to be disappointed. Pete knows he can never be around her until he sorts himself out," a spy commented.

IT'S ALL IN THE NAME
Christina Aguilera is considering changing her name to Maria Bratman. The 24-year-old newlywed, who tied the knot on 19 November, says: "I'll probably always be Christina Aguilera professionally, but I'm thinking of changing some legal things and going by my middle name Maria and his last name." Meanwhile, the happy couple is already planning a big family. "We definitely, definitely want to have children," says Christina. "I think we will probably start trying when we wrap up my next world tour and I'm very, very excited about that."

According to a poll of American women, 78% would prefer to kiss Brad under the mistletoe this Christmas, than Jen's new man, Vince. And Brad isn't the only ex our Stateside sisters prefer: they'd also choose Bruce Willis over Ashton Kutcher given half the chance. In fact, the only ex they think deserves his new status is Chris Klein, with 75% claiming they'd prefer to smooch Tom Cruise than Katie's old fiancé

Troubled rock star Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs.

The Babyshambles frontman was stopped by police as he drove in west London early on Wednesday morning.

Officers stopped the vehicle because it was being driven erratically, police said in a statement.

They discovered suspicious substances after searching Doherty and the vehicle.

He was arrested for alleged possession of class A drugs, thought to be crack cocaine, and taken to a west London police station.

The 26-year-old was later released on bail.

He is due to report back to police in January pending further inquiries.

Self-confessed drug addict Doherty has had a high-profile on-off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, 31.

The former Libertines singer has just released his first album with new band Babyshambles.
