Default what can schools do to help weight problems

We all seen the Jamie oliver programme where he wanted schools to help with food issues where the majority of the schools were not up for it and followed by angry parents, but as we have seen he was right and children are not eating healthy, so what should schools do about it.

Should schools now become more involved and how about schools encouraging children to eat food that they are not keen on by allowing them to taste it.

A lot of children including my own says she does not like a food that she has never tried, so what can we do about it.

Maybe we should have a health lesson each week to show our children the different health issues that could be overcome by eating properly, what do you think

You can put healthy food in front of kids all day, but if they don't like it they won't eat it. The problem is that if they don't eat they complain about being hungry, and their schoolwork suffers.

They are kids. Allowing them to taste something new won't work BECAUSE they won't taste it. With older children I suspect it would be less of a problem.

What to do about YOUR kid who already knows she doesn't like something she hasn't tried? Let her grow up. When I was a kid you coldn't FORCE me to eat broccoli. I'd rather eat dirt.
THEN I discovered salt and CHEESE SAUCE. Now, I can't get enough of the stuff.
I remember going to Chinese resturants when I was small with my Mom and my (smaller) little brother (who is now 44). While I had already discovered Fried Rice and loved it. Matt always made a big production of ordering a "Chinese Cheeseburger".

Programs such as Medical College of Georgia’s FitKid Project offer a good example of how school-based fitness programs can make a difference. This program provided third-graders in Augusta-Richmond County with 80 minutes of physical activity and 40 minutes of academic enrichment every day after school for the duration of the school year. The physical activity portion focused on motor-skill acquisition through sports such as basketball, volleyball and soccer and also included dance.

Hello
First, a little about me. I've suffered from compulsive overeating my entire life. Binge eating and compulsive eating are common in my family, along with alcoholism. Unlike my alcohol and drug addictions, overeating is not something I can claim to be free from. As you already know, you can abstain from alcohol and drugs and survive. My overeating and the resultant overweight condition led to back, neck and knee problems, high blood pressure, stress disorder and asthma. Yet, I was still only half-heartedly doing anything about it when the doctor told me, in 2001, I have Type II Diabetes. That got my attention! I'm now 60 pounds under my top weight. I believe the first step in any solution is to face the fact that there is a problem. I wasn't open to help from anyone before because I was in denial. The shock of Diabetes at age 47 removed that denial, and for that, I will always thank God. Well, He did His part, but 4 years later, although I've battled and kept my weight down, I haven't lost the remaining 50 pounds to get to a reasonable weight.
