hedgehogs are wild creatures and belong in the garden, they are not ideal pets, they prefer water to drink and the run of the garden eating the pests.

I agree with Lily, they don't belong in the house as domestic pets, rather let them be where they belong, in the wild.

Hedghogs purchased from a breeder make very nice pets dispite what people may say. They can have some health issues/be harder than other small animals to take care of, but in genral they are a lot of fun, and pretty friendly. Buy one from a breeder, and make sure you really research them before buying one. They do need socializing as they are naturally kind of shy, but once socialized they are nice animals. Try proving you can be responsible to your parents, take on extra chorse to help pay for it. Also maybe start with taking care of a gold fish or hamster to show you will take good care of an animal before getting a hedgie (they are expensive, 100 dollars and up). Learn a lot about hedgehogs to show you are dedicated and understand how to take care of them. Approach your parents in a way that isn't whiney. Whining will only make them think you are being immature. Give them mature reasons why you want one. Point out that it will give you some responsibility, and that you will be willing to help out around the house.
