Default What are some of your tips for military long distance parenting?

My husband is military and deployed quite a bit, we try very hard to utilize the internet and mobile communications as means for keeping him connected. What are some of your ideas, tips, or suggestions that we may be able to do as parents in keeping him included with the family from afar?

your question confused me.. your husband is in the military.. got that part..... are you asking what his parents can do to keep him included in thigs .... tape record his voice.... have him say goodnight to the kids... that helped alot.... that way daddy was saying goodnight to them as well as i was...we covered poster boards with pics of him.. some of his favorite thigs.. pics of fish, fishing boats, bowling balls... etc.. this also taught our boys what their dad liked...spray his cologne on favorite stuffed animals, pillows blankies... the scent of him and his voice was a major help when trying to fall asleep.... the same things can be done by him when he gets home... that way the kids can help and you can help them remember when they were making things with their dad..webcams, digital camera, digital picture frames, special songs. etc also help.... one of the biggest helps was so simple... each one of the boys had a pt t-shirt that he wore, and they slept in it when they were older..... they felt like they were already in the Marine Corps. i hope this helps...............
