For a toddler younger than 1.5 i think it is too young. I think it also depends how long you will be away. A couple hours is okay but an entire day would be bad. The time of day would matter too. Yes it is okay during day time but not if the 13 year old would have to put the toddler down for a nap, bedtime or meal time.

I babysat from the time I was 10 until adulthood. I personally feel that a teenager, no matter how mature is not fit to care for a child under the age of 5. A teen has no experience caring for children. If in your case the teen has had a lot of experience caring for infants I would say okay but only for short periods of time or while you or another adult was there.

Well I think that if you know and trust the 13 year old then I would say go for it because I have 1 19 month old little boy and a 6 month old little girl and I do have a 13 year old babysit for my kids it works out great know that its summer. So I say go for it

It depends on the 13 year old. I started babysitting at age 12 because I was really mature for my age and, having younger siblings, I had experience with young children and was very good with them. If she's good with your shild and mature enough to handle it, then there's no problem.
