The very hungry catepillar, brown bear brown bear is wonderful, in fact my oldest got the paper version for his kindergaten book that the Govenor picks out. We also like to look at the big board books that have you searching for objects hidden in a bigger picture. We don't look for the objects but my 23 month old loves to just point at the objects and have me tell him what they all are. Or I will ask him to find easy ones, like the ball or the clock, not the hidden stuff. Good luck

I love the Sandra Boyton books, as well as the eric carle. Nowadays most classics are in borad form. Dr Seuss is also a great author.

Try Baby Einstein books. The books are about an each think with just about 12 pages. So you can imagine how thick each page are... Uhm... When you say non-rippable, it assume you cannot tear the pages in half... But in my experience, they can rip off the entire leaf from the book...When all the leaf was torn apart, i decided to punch about three holes on the edge of each leaf with a ice pick and stitched all the pages, binding them together with thin nylon cord...

Did you see that one about calling 911 on the Ellen Degeneres show. It was a board book all about when you should call 911. A 4 year old boy had the book and he saved his mothers life. I think it was called "Time to call 911"I found it and added a link for you.
