porridge is very very healthy, extremely high in fibre. In saying that he also does need other foods to make a balanced diet. Make eating fun and don't push him. Kids go through eating stages where one day they will eat something, the next they won't eat it.Have you ever thought that the nutrients he will get from rice, he is already getting from porridge. They are both grains and carbs. If he dosent like rice but likes porridge, give him porridge... there are worse foods he could like

What does he eat? If there is something he really likes, introduce a new food along with it during his next meal. Keep giving him new stuff with his favorites so he becomes familiar with the food. It takes at least 10 tries for a child to actually like a new food. My son (3 years) is picky, too, but with this method he's been trying new foods every now and then. I quit giving my son baby food (pureed stuff) as soon as he had the chewing thing down (about 10 months old and he had 10 teeth by then). If porridge is the only thing he's eating you might want to talk to your pediatrician about it.
