Well Anna will be 2 this month and once again, as I did last year I will be just having a little tea party with a few close friends kids and then inviting our families round on her birthday for a bite to eat throughout the day, bit of an open house. Obviously I will be getting her a cake, balloons and banners, making it a special day for her BUT there are so many people I know who are hiring out the likes of Wacky Warehouse places for their child's 2nd birthday and I feel they think I'm a bit strange when I say I'm not doing the same.
Is it just me or do others think that it's a bit of a waste at the age of 2 ? |

I did a mini party for ella with all the family at my house with food, cake and loads of presents.
That was all I did and to be honest she knew somthing great was happening and was really excited about all the wrapping paper  but that was it she didnt know it was her birthday or it was a party for her. At the end of the day when they get older they will become more demanding so until that day comes Im going to be saving my money so I can give her the party she wants when she is older, its not being mean its just being wise ;-) |

i think a mini party is great for the 1st couple years, when the kiddies get older you can do better parties
i wasnt going to do anything for matthews 1st birthday but i might just take a couple of the youngest in the family out for the day |

i think you spend so much later on when they are at pre school and nursery and then school when they are asking for certain 'types' of party, that you should save the play centre ones for then. You will only be doing it because its expected and as others have said Anna wont really know exactly whats happening this year ;-) dont feel pressurised into it and also home parties are far nicer

I think a mini party is the best idea we did that with our daughter and then we will do the same for the other 2. I don't think they would appreciate a big party at the moment as they are too young.
If it is anything like round here it is who can out do who as regards partys, I just leave them to it and do what I want  |

i had parties at home when my two were small, it wasnt till they got to school age that i started hiring out the likes of wacky warehouse etc and i only did that then because they wanted to invite the whole class and i certainly wasnt having 30 kids running round my house

I always used to have at home parties, and my mates would come round, i remember playing all sorts of games, like musical chairs and pass the parcel. Its those I remember, and i never wanted anything else as i liked them so much
just because everyone else is doing their own thing, you dont have to follow suit, and i admire people for not being a sheep!
