hi everyone

just a quickie, lewis is 11 months now when should i try him on cows milk?? and is it tru your supposed to give them whole/full fat rather than semi skimmed?
also, how do you do it? im not too sure, if you do half milk half water, or you do half cows half formula???
any advice given will really help, thanks so much

Hi Mandy,

I think that you have to wait until they are 1 to move them onto Cow's milk... so not long to go!!

We moved Aaron onto Cow's milk from formula when he was 1. Yes you give them full-fat and you don't need to do anything with it.

Aaron still drinks at least 2-3 pints per day and he is over 2! But then I love my milk

Hope this helps. BB x

Hi we swapped Annabelle over to cows milk on her 1st birthday and to be honest it was the worst thing we could have done (for her) as she was constipated for 6 months there after, Eryn is 14 months and is still on formula and health officials actually recommend the use of formula milk until the age of 2, so after the problems we had with Annabelle we have decided to keep Eryn on it until then, rather expensive but rather the extra cost than the constipation. We did try her for a few days but she stopped sleeping, so we switched her back. I am sure Lewis will be fine though.

hiya mandy,

we swapped anna when she was one. i tried her with a bottle of full fat cows milk but she spat it out and couldn't really take to it so my cousin recommended doing half formula half cows milk then over a period reducing the formula and increasing the cows milk per bottle (if you get me).

only took a week or so, it's amazing at first to be not doing scoops, just pouring the milk straight in

mine both went on full fat cows milk when they were 1 with no problems
i suppose it depends yet again on the child, so id just give him a little bit to try first and see if he is ok with it  x
