I am trying to figure out the difference between swimming and hot tubbing. I did both before I found out I was pregnant. I have a lot of back pain and they helped that - especially the hot tub. I spoke with my doctor and he said I couldn't go in the hot tub because of bacteria and germs getting in my cervix. I forgot to ask him about swimming. However, I see that swimming is recommened.
So my question is if it is possible to get bacteria and germs in your cervix in a hot tub wouldn't it be possible to get bacteria and germs in your cervix in a pool. Does anyone know the difference? |

I think it has to do a lot with the higher water temperatures when being in hot tub. The warmer temperature allows bacteria to grow better. Hot tubs pretty much represent standing water and are known to eventually cause bacterial infection if not properly maintained and cleaned. Also keep in mind your body is not waterproof and small amounts of water can get into your vagina.
Another big danger is the high water temperature in hot tubs or when taking a hot bath at home. Raising your body temperature means danger to your baby. Swimming in normal pools on the other side means that the water has a lower temperature and that the risk of certain bacteria to get into your body is much lower. Seger |
